Program Introduction

TESOL is a concise course to learn how to teach English to speakers of other languages. This four-week intensive program covers the four mains skills (listening, speaking, reading and writing), as well as the key systems (lexis, phonology, grammar) inherent in language teaching. We focus on teaching modern principle and techniques. Our program is full of practical teaching tips and multiple opportunities to practice the skills as they’re taught. On completion of this course, graduates will have the knowledge and skills to step into the classroom.

Admission Requirements:

International Students must pass the Vancouver International College – Career Campus Entrance Interview AND provide one of the following:
  • recognized international English language equivalency test score, OR
  • a pass on our entrance exam; OR
  • show proof of one: TOEFL® iBT 61, TOEIC 650, IELTS 5.5
Program Length:  
  • 4-week Certificate program
  • 26.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday
  • In class: 4 weeks – 106 hours
Daily Schedule:
  • Monday to Thursday: 9 am – 3:30 pm
  • Friday: 9:30 am – 2:30 pm  

Graduation Requirement: 70% average upon successful completion of all in-class courses and optional practicum.

Optional Onsite Studies & Practicum

Practical application of the concepts taught in TESOL can be practiced during a 4 week placement at one of our associated ESL campuses. Watching and learning from seasoned professionals is a great way to cement the knowledge and skills developed during the in-class portion of the program.

Onsite Studies:
  • Full Time
  • 16 days / 80 hours
  • Monday to Thursday 9:00am – 12:30pm and 1:30pm – 3:00pm
  • Friday 9:00am – 12:30pm and 1:30pm – 2:30pm
Practicum:
  • Full Time
  • 4 days / 18.5 hours
  • Monday to Thursday 9:00am – 12:30pm and 1:30 – 3:00pm
  • Friday 9:00am – 12:30pm and 1:30pm – 2:30pm
