TESOL for Teens & Adults

Leading The Way In Teacher Training

Program Introduction

TESOL for Teens & Adults is a 4-week, comprehensive program that builds on the core skills and knowledge developed in TESOL. Topics (listening, speaking, reading, writing, lexis, phonology, and grammar) are revisited and developed to a deeper level with additional practices. Additionally, this program explores experiential, hands-on, and discovery learning styles. This program also looks at the concept of content-based instruction with a science-fair prep module. Teenage learner-specific and adult learner-specific classroom management are also discussed. This course includes a Cambridge TKT (Teacher Knowledge Test) component and graduates will have the confidence to take that exam feeling prepared.

What Learning Goals Will I Achieve?

Students will have the ability to:

  • plan, prepare, and deliver lessons for both teenage and adult students, knowing their age-specific needs
  • understand the benefits and advantages of both project-based learning and content-based instruction
  • teach scientific vocabulary with simple definitions
  • implement classroom management strategies for middle school, high school and adult learning environments
  • deliver a phonics lesson focused on a minimal pair contrast
  • organize dynamic book report tasks in reading lessons
  • compare skills lessons for a global focus vs. sub-skills development
  • prepare fully for the TKT test
